How Much Does a Dumpster Rental Cost on Long Island?
One of the first things people ask when they call us is: “How much does a dumpster cost?” It’s a fair question, and we believe in being upfront about pricing.
Here’s what you need to know about dumpster rental costs on Long Island.
What’s Included in the Price
When you rent a dumpster from Cigna Recycling & Waste, your quote includes:
- Delivery — we drop the container at your location
- Rental period — typically 7 days (extensions available)
- Pickup — we come get it when you’re done
- Disposal — we handle proper waste disposal up to the included weight limit
There are no hidden fees. The price we quote is the price you pay, as long as you stay within the weight limit and rental period.
What Affects the Price
Several factors determine your final cost:
1. Dumpster Size
Larger containers cost more because they hold more material and cost more to transport and dispose of. A 10 yard container will cost less than a 30 yard container.
2. Type of Debris
Standard household junk and construction debris are typically included in the base price. However, certain materials may affect pricing:
- Heavy materials (concrete, brick, dirt) may incur additional weight charges
- Mixed loads with heavy and light materials are generally fine
- Hazardous materials are not accepted (chemicals, paint, asbestos)
3. Rental Duration
Our standard rental period is 7 days, which is plenty for most residential projects. If you need the container longer, we offer extensions at a reasonable daily rate.
4. Location
We serve all of Nassau and Suffolk County. While we don’t charge extra for most locations, the specific delivery area can factor into pricing.
How to Get the Best Value
Right-Size Your Container
The biggest cost mistake is renting too small and needing a second container. It’s often cheaper to go one size up than to order two smaller ones. When in doubt, call us and describe your project — we’ll recommend the most cost-effective option.
Fill It Efficiently
Stack and break down items to maximize space. Flat items like drywall and plywood should go along the bottom. Fill gaps with smaller debris. The more efficiently you pack, the more value you get from your rental.
Know What Goes In
Avoid mixing in prohibited items that could result in additional charges. Check our FAQ page for a full list of accepted and non-accepted materials.
Book Ahead When Possible
While we offer same-day delivery for urgent needs, booking a day or two ahead ensures you get the exact size and timing you want.
